A wild night of racing at
Midlothian VA's Southside Speedway resulted in extensive damage to the #
89 Mozely Rose Chevy. Jenkins [89] would start the race in the second
position immediately taking the lead from Wayne McGee [1]. After leading
16 laps, Jenkins would start to fade a bit eventually giving up the lead
but holding ground within the top seven positions. " We were lose", said
Jenkins. "I think we went a little to far on adjustments but I was just
going to ride it out and see where we end
up."

Just before midway of the 50 lap feature, the caution flag was waved for
an incident on the track. The field was set to go green with Doug Godsey
in the lead. While leading the field to green, Godsey [05] brake checks
the front of the field stacking up several cars nose to tail causing
damage to many racecars, with the 89 of Jenkins catching the worst of it
after getting in to Brandon Hendrick [55]. With damage, Jenkins
continues down into turn one unaware of radiator damage from the
previous incident. As Jenkins came out of turn two, he spins in his own
water leaving oncoming traffic with nowhere to go resulting in a multi
car crash blocking the entire corner of the track. Although Jenkins was
OK after the incident, the car sustained major chassis and body damage
as a result of the incident. "All of this started back in turn four at
the start of the race," said Jenkins. " Brake checking belongs
in Street Stocks, not Late Model racing." The race would continue with
Chris Hopkins [43] eventually making contact with Doug Godsey [05]
sending Godsey to the rear with Hopkins taking over the lead. Hopkins
goes on the win the race with Shayne Lockhart [11], Russ Ellis [07],
Wayne Patterson[16], and Roy Hendrick [39] rounding out the top-five.
