LEI Motorsports is proud to announce
that Chandler Welding and Fabrication has joined the team for
the remainder of the season. "This sponsor came at a great time",
said Jenkins. " With the economy the way it is and expenses
exceeding our 2008 budget, we really appreciate their support."
Not a bad night for LEI Motorsports
considering early handling problems for Jenkins in the Mozely Rose
Chevy. "We started the night with a really bad push," said
Jenkins. A brake problem seemed to be the culprit which was
repaired before the green flag of the 100 lap feature.
With Jenkins starting outside of the top
ten, he had some work to do. After 50 laps, Jenkins finds
himself in the top ten with Greg Fernandez [02] in his mirror for
several laps. The points leader, Shayne Lockhart [11] narrowly
missed bad fortune on Lap 83 when Eddie Johnson was involved in a
four-car accident between Turns 1 and 2. Johnson's car rolled down
the track and nearly collected Lockhart, who swerved down onto pit
road to avoid contact.
Roy Hendrick had the comeback of the night.
He moved to the rear of the field after cutting a tire down on the
first lap in contact with Johnson. He worked his way up to fifth
before he was spun out by pole-winner Doug Godsey on Lap 90.
Hendrick still managed to finish sixth. Jenkins [89] and Fernandez
[02] would move into the seventh and eighth positions where they
would finish the race.
