Racing for Michael
8/23/08 LEI

Instead of the
typical Late Model race recap, LEI Motorsports has directed this weeks
focus to 16 year old Michael Austin Hall Jr.
On August 12th 2008,
Michael was involved in an accident on a mini bike near his Chesterfield
VA home where he sustained severe head trauma. Michael races in the
U-Car division at Southside Speedway and also helps on occasion in the
LEI shop of Late Model driver Rob Jenkins [89]. Michael is currently in
the care of one of the top neuro-surgical
hospitals in the area. Michael has recently been brought out of a
medically induced coma and is making progress. "He's there", said
Michael Hall senior. "But it's still day by day right now. Even though
he's responsive to some things, I want it all and rig ht
now, but we have to be patient." Michael is currently in stable
condition and will continue ongoing treatment and observation for some
time as his condition improves.
Before the National Anthem
at Southside Speedway last Friday night, a prayer and moment of silence
was in order as
thousands bow their heads wishing the best for Michael and his family.
Decals were also distributed to all the race teams and placed on their
race cars in recognition of Michael's situation.
Michael's U-Car would
still race with Amy Clingenpeel finishing 19th in the first feature.
During the second feature Michael's best friend, Jason Marshall in his
first start ever, would take the checkered flag in the 17th position.
Michael Hall Senior was at the track during the two features in support
of his son Michael and 911 Racing.
