LEI Motorsports.com Although Jenkins came
away with a respectable eighth place finish in Thursday's Denny
Hamlin 175, he was still #1 to some fans. The race was for the Denny
Hamlin Foundation to help raise awareness
and funding for the specific needs of
individuals afflicted with
Cystic Fibrosis.
Other
Sprint Cup regulars in the race would include Kyle Busch and Curtis
Markham. The Speedway also welcomed the 1983 Winston Cup Champion
Bobby Allison as the Grand Marshall. Twenty seven cars entered the
event with qualifying beginning early in the day. Jenkins [89]
qualifies the Mozely Rose Chevy in the fifteenth starting position
with Kyle Busch [18] on the pole. With long green flag runs and a
few cautions, Jenkins was able to make several passes and
advance
the Mozely Rose Chevy into the top ten. Jenkins would eventually get
around Scott Turlington [48] and the infamous Bugs Hairfield [04]
for the 8th position. After a timely caution late in the race,
Jenkins was scored in the 8th position with only ten cars left on
the lead lap. Jenkins held on the to
8th position where he would
finish, with Kyle Busch winning the Denny Hamlin 175.
